From the day martial law was imposed on Pakistan, a few weeks ago, Joe Biden became the obvious candidate for the presidency of the United States. Pakistan has real nuclear weapons. Pakistan is not Iraq or Iran. We’re still looking the wrong way as we step off the curb. While it’s been over thirty years since we elected a senator for president, in favor of governors, now is Biden’s time. He has far more experience in foreign affairs than the rest of the pack, combined. He’s chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Senate of the United States Congress. He’s been Chair, or ranking Committee member, of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee…well, almost forever. Pray god we don’t elect another person and then experience, yet one more time, the world’s most expensive on-the-job training program in all our blood-drenched history. Let us not elect another governor and then end up paying the ultimate price: our lives.

Sorry, but he hasn’t got a chance. Maybe if he had more mojo or even some magic underwear it could help him, especially here in Utah. How about Obama? After all he was a professor of constitutional law at U of Chicago. No peer respect here Eddie?

Joe is too glib to be Pres, no gravitas, bush has more, plus he doesn’t wear his religion on his sleeve, a requirement for the emerging theocratic litmus test in One God, Nation Underfoot.

I support Biden for President. However, with your endorsement, I think that gives Utah five supporters. I think I have about as much hope of being elected Pope as Biden does of winning the Democratic nomination. But who knows, I do look good in white.

Obama would be great. As long as he appoints Joe Biden his Secretary of State.
After the first three primaries, the dust will settle. After that, the hangers on will be thinking of the Vice Presidency, even as they disclaim any such interest. For tahe first time in my life, however, I really do think that every Democrat is light years beyond any Republican candidate. Except one libertarian Republican. Can you guess who?

Paul, he just set a one day record for campaign donations, all web based, the reps, will have to deal with him. Dec. 16th, Boston Tea Party Day, broke Kerrys’ one day record. Paul’s campaign raised 6 million in 24 hours.
Obama and hilary are unelectable. The fix is in. When my capitalist fiscal republican friends and business people say they are voting for hilary if no viable rep shows up, then we are all truly screwed.
Obama just is not on any radar with anyone I speak with. He is the darlin’ of the rainbow, and that isn’t going to win. Corporate America will not have their taxes raised and the People are tapped out.
We are getting huckabee, unless Paul busts a move. I would say that there is no democracy left, the MSM won’t even cover him. Let’s see what he does with his money. I figure him to get “deaned”. Anyone that won’t continue the war has no chance, it is making the elites on both sides of the political fence too much money. The ruse of security, like the majority flocking to religious candidates like moths to flames, will rule the day of a population dumbed down to 30th @#$%^&* place.
Baaaa! or Moooo! Take your pick. Or vote for Paul.

Your Joking right?
Obama will be the democratic nominee
205.134.200.43#7 by pokemon on December 17, 2007 - 7:58 pm
That is even worse, he has no chance. If he gets the nomination its a cakewalk for huckabee, or whoever gets the rep nomination. I don’t want it, but that’s where it’s going. If military barracks o’bomber gets the nomination(what was he thinking saying he’d bomb Iran?), it plays directly into republican hands. His link with oprah is a killer for most thinking Americans, and the unthinking vote republican. Think he’ll carry his own State?
It’s tough living in Utah, you never really know what is going on, or you find out 6 months too late.
There’s a whole year to go, and the do nothing dems, are on the hot seat. If you are progressive, I do believe that the movement in general has “misunderestimated” (as they have w), how truly sick the American people are of the posing and doing nothing of democrats. On the war, immigration, outsourcing, education, energy costs, the whole litany of failure, and bush and co. ‘aint stupid, they will dump all that quite neatly into the democratic lap. They got game, dems got,… who knows what they’ve got?…, but it ‘aint a winner. Too complacent from what I see.

I always liked the nickname…’Morocco Banana’… but never use it in polite company for fear of being thrown out.
Pokemon: Cakewalk! the very notion is profoundly unsettling! & Utah, behind the times? I thought Utah was THE ‘Tipping Point’.
I’m standing behind my Leiberman / McCain nightmare on that other thread.

Leiber*uck and McComeStain, clinton should like that shift, he has a dress with that ticket on it already at the laundry.
*lieber means “dear” or “love” in German, if lieber*uck makes it, we could call him “dear leader” just like Mao!
Devvy has barrack o’bombers’ ticket
Wish she would run.

Pokemon, on just what planet are you living? Bush has more gravitas than Joe Biden? I assume you’re joking. I know Biden quite well. He”s as bright and centered as any human being I’ve ever met.
Bush Lite? Bush the Less? surely you jest. Bush Lite stays on planet earth simply because he’s linked to the navel with Vice President Cheney. In Dantean terms, that means they are going to hell. Maybe that”s what you meant. Joe will remain on earth, while the ultimate gravity will pull Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld and Putin and Wolfowitz and Bin Ladin, to His Satanic Majesty’s kingdom, frozen from the waist down, and burning in Hell from the waist up, through all eternity. With all the other serial killers. Now that’s Gravitas!!!!

It’s kind of amazing the media isn’t giving Biden more attention since he’s been a darling of the media for a long time now, but then so has McCain. They’ve both had more face time on the news shows then almost anybody else.
I never had too much against Biden until he attacked Howard Dean. I can’t remember what he said about Dean, but it made me mad enough to track down his E-mail address and send a nasty letter. He also helped the credit card companies to literally run wild.

Ed, I will speak for the “pokemon”, he lost his license here. Duh Ed, there is no doubt that bush has a gravitas and appeal that is believed and liked by millions of our fellows, especially in the beginning. To deny this fundamental difference between you, and those who voted for bush, is naive Ed.
Nobody has any goddman idea who Joe Biden even is, or what he stands for. At best he is an occasional talking head on TV, of NO consequence. I understand you like him, and think he’s great. That is not what I am referring to. If he was worth a shit, his own party might elevate him, but they DON’T. He does come off well on TV though, so does bush, it all depends on your perspective.
3 year olds don’t like C Span, they watch Teletubbies and Barney. Use this as a guide to get to the level to understand the reality of what is going on in this Country.
Now you sound a tad crazy Ed, as nuts as any religious freak, what if there is NO GOD!! Then bushs’ fantasy is just a mirror of the ones the religious doctrinaires hold.
What if flying Spaghetti Monster has deemed that bushs’ penchant for pasta meals saves him, and gives him grace? Or cheneys stewing of doves in marinara sauce pardons him? Fuckin’ nuts the whole lot, this country is so crazy, no matter which extreme you look at.
This politics Ed, not Disneyland, well scratch that, maybe it is…and Larry, it is not amazing, Biden says he’ll end the war, that is the corporate kiss of DEATH. There are so many pockets left to fill before it is “over”.

Hi Red Dog. I get what you are saying, I think. You”re using gravitas to mean the capacity to sway millions. That’s not my meaning. Hitler could sway millions. Stalin too. And Pol Pot. And until very recently, the serial killers that led both Israel and Hamas. Serial killers all. In Israel past, not now. And Palestine past, not now. But a very short time ago. I hate to think who we join with in our efforts to export democracy. If that’s indeed your meaning, George the Less is right in his element. And Cheney, his Dark Lord. And Rumsfeld. And Bin Ladin. And Wolfowitz, who had converted his disciples at Princeton. Like Hitler in the 1030′s. Birds of a feather flock together, but that’s not gravitas. That is simply the propagation of mass murder, serial killers all; but by multiplication, not the simple killing of 20, then 2l, then 22. You do it with megabites.

That is gravitas, you nailed it, when those bastards spoke people listened, or died… gravitas of mettle will have to meet tyranny like theirs as it always has, with some SAND.
Gravitas is when any group of people stupid or otherwise find you compelling and do what you say. There are two natures as with any life.
Ed; The time is over for silly talk…it’s time to walk the Freedom walk. Biden we wish, who is going to stand for the Constitution, but Paul? I swore an Oath to it. It means something to me. I guess I could always leave.
Stark had gravitas, Washington, Andy Jackson, FDR. Hey, Benedict Arnold, Lincoln.
It is a product of charisma and will, for better or worse, history shows that even psychos can be compelling.
These are the times when people truly must gut check, and stop drifting. Our political desires mean nothing if the Constitution goes down, our personal philosophies of how government should be run are dangerous, even to perceived good purpose. The lesson is, Freedom and Liberty trumps all, and that can only preserved by living the dictum…Don’t tread on me. The Constitution describes the means, and controls our government, or should.
When it goes, we better fight.
